The last day of 2011
So today is the last day of 2011. I wonder what exciting adventures I will have in 2012?
2011 has been a good year. Some things have gone wrong but overall I have been pretty content. I start 2012 not knowing what the future holds careerwise but hopeful that things will work out. I am fortunate to have stayed on at the job I left for my teacher training as a casual member of staff so at the moment I am working part time and bringing in some money. Long term I need to find a full time job that pays a decent amount so that I can get on with life and move out from my parents' house etc. Having the casual hours at my previous job is great as it means I can do fun stuff as I have some money coming in and it gets me out the house. I think if I did not have this I would end up feeling a sense of despair.
Anyway changing the subject slightly to goals for 2012/new years resolutions.
I posted some resolutions on facebook earlier. These include walk the dog more often (my Dad walks the dog most often so this is a do more of my fair share), run another marathon as long as I am well enough to train and take a photo a day.
I think I will also add blog at least once a week. Hopefully having a set target will mean I actually do blog more often.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2012 xx

2011 in survey form
Hi folks,
I have decided to do the year in survey form a bit earlier than usual this year. So here it is :-)
1. What did you do in 2011 that you had never done before?
Go to Zumba class, go to Body Combat class, teach a class, run a marathon, raise over £1000 for charity, pipe icing onto cakes, took part in a cycle challenge, grew lots of foods I had never grown before. At the moment those are all the ones I can think of
2. Did you keep your new years resolutions and will you make more for next year?
Resolutions were to socialise more: as in don't turn down offers etc. I feel I have achieved this one.
Run the London Marathon=Done
Run Swindon Half Marathon again=Done
Run Silverstone Half Marathon again=Done
Stop swearing=not done but I have cut down
Be ill less often=oops.
I haven't really decided what my resolutions are for next year. Maybe do a cake decorating course and work on my skills, apply for an allotment and get settled careerwise.
3. How will you be spending your new years eve?
At the moment I have yet to decide.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully no.
5. What countries did you visit?
I just stayed in England this year.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Ooh I don't know. Maybe a little bit more confidence in certain situations.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
17.04.11 because I ran the London Marathon that day and it was AMAZING!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Running the London Marathon. Well training for it and doing it by myself :-) (had a lovely support team of friends and family on the day etc though)
9. What was your biggest failure?
I wouldn't say I had any failures particularly. My teaching course didn't work out because I was ill but I didn't fail.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yes. Been poorly for the last couple of months.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Gosh I really don't know so going to go for the plunger cutters I got at the good food show. Snowflakes and flowers :-)
12. Where did most of your money go?
Possibly petrol although I don't have exact figures.
13. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Adele: Someone like you. Because it has been played on the radio A LOT and I always sing along.
14. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I don't think there is anything, I have been pretty happy this year and whilst I wish I hadn't been ill and had therefore done more of my course that is not something I can change and therefore I don't wish it.
I guess maybe exercise classes that I had to skip due to illness. But again that is a thing I couldn't have helped.
15. What do you wish you'd done less of?
I'm not sure on this one. Maybe being messy!
16. What was you favourite TV programme?
The Great British Bake Off. Brilliant show. Although also loved Kirstie's Handmade Britain.
17. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate isn't something I do, there are some people I dislike or feel disappointed in.
18. What was the best book you read?
Room. I forget who it is by but it is a gripping read.
19. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I didn't really have one! (boring I know)
20. What was your favourite film of this year?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
21. What did you do on your birthday?
Went to Millets farm in the day with my friend and then had a meal at home with the family in the evening I think.
22. What kept you sane?
My lovely friends and not letting myself be bothered about things I had no power to change.
23. Who did you miss?
Special people who are no longer with us.
24. Who was the best new person that you met?
There is someone who is not a close friend but is just one of those people who never fails to be cheerful. I also met loads of lovely people on my course :-)
25. Tell us a valuable life lesson that you learned in 2011.
Feel the fear and do it anyway. Don't worry about things you can't change. Look to the future and what you can do differently next time.
I have no idea what the year 2012 will bring but I hope that with a positive attitude and determination it will be a great year. I am excited for the future.

Run run run
Hello folks,
Yet again I have neglected my blog. I have just felt so busy all the time. I am training 5 days a week for my marathon which is in 5 weeks and 3 days time (wow that has come around fast) I am both nervous and excited. I am aiming for any time under 7 hours which will seem ridiculously long to most people but I will definitely be needing a few walking breaks and will be very proud of myself just for finishing. I ran a half marathon on Sunday and managed to run the furthest ever in my whole life without a walking break. Very proud of myself. It was nice as I ran with two friends who definitely motivated me and encouraged me. I think it will be tough not to have a friend to run with in the marathon.
Tonight I made a risotto for dinner, it was the first time I had ever made or in fact eaten risotto and it was delicious. Enough leftovers for 2 more meals which I am freezing for when I am on late shifts and need something quick.
I'm on the late shift tomorrow and it is then my weekend off. I am going out for a meal Saturday night and so far no plans for Sunday other than the 10mile run that my training plan informs me of.
I'm then working Monday and Tuesday before some annual leave I am taking to use up before the end of our holiday year (which is end of March). I have some plans with friends which I am looking forward to. I am also starting a beginners jog group next week as I am a qualified jog group leader. It will be the first course I have lead so shall be challenging but I think I am well prepared.
I hope everyone is well and that I update again soon.

Welcome back weight loss mojo
I have my weight loss mojo back! This morning just before I got in the shower I had this sudden surge of determination. A feeling of I want to do this I can do this I am determined to get back in control of my eating.
I feel really positive right now.
I went to spinning this morning and I don't think I have ever sweated that much, it was hard going. But when I push myself I always feel so gloriously pleased with myself afterwards.
I also went for a run last night which really seemed to upset my joints. During the run at some point each of the following hurt, both ankles, both hips and one knee. My left hip seemed worse and sure enough today it is sore still. It survived spinning with only the odd twinge. I am hoping it will hold out for a run tomorrow and then Thursday is a rest day so recover then.
I have decided to have some chilled out, lazing about, me time before work today. I am relishing in the fact that I am going to make my lunch and then sit on the sofa watching trashy tv until it's time to get ready for work. Bliss!

Internet was broken but is now fixed :-)
So our internet has been broken and I have also had a crazily busy couple of weeks. Right now I am super tired and feeling very much in need of some chocolate.
I seem to have been eating lots of fruit and veg but also slightly more cakes, chocolate etc than I would like to.
This weekend my brother and his girlfriend are moving in with us until their house they are buying has all gone through so it's all hands on deck to get them moved in and sorted.
Next week we are dogsitting which means walks for us. I also need to get stuck in with my training for my next half marathon.
This week has been a bit stressful and right about now I am not going to worry overly about how much chocolate I have eaten or a lack of exercise (I have been cycling to work though). I going to try and get back on track next week. And get training for my run.
Apologies for the shortness of the post I am trying to watch tv and type and have done so much its almost like its easier to not mention any of it then to try and think about them all and get them down. Perhaps I will update on those in a few days when things aren't so hectic.

Maisy, food, exercise...
I got my baby rabbit on Monday evening, she is called Maisy until such a time that I find out she is actually a he! Lol. She is such a sweetie and has now got a favourite spot to sleep in in her run which is v cute. I'm looking forward to many years with her companionship.
My eating has been a bit unregulated the last couple of days, I wouldn't say I have gone mad but just not been particularly watchful. I reined it back in today. I did go to spin class yesterday morning but didn't feel particularly satisfied with myself afterwards as I found it really hard and didn't feel like I had done as well as I could have. Better than staying in bed I suppose. Plan is spin again tomorrow night and then I'm not sure when I'll get time to exercise over the weekend. Then Mon and Tues spin and not sure any further than that. Tuesday is my birthday and due to my working some extra shifts I have it off. I figure I will still go to spin as I probably wouldn't have got up to much in the morning anyway. Then home and shower followed by lunch with my mum and sit in the garden if it is nice (please be nice) then in the eve I imagine we will have a family meal at home. I am going out for a meal and to the pub on the Friday evening. This is the first time in 3 years that I have not either had an exam on my birthday or a few days after which has meant the last few were quiet ones. (I did have a party a couple of weeks after my birthday last year as it was my 21st birthday).
With all the birthday eating I can see next week may be a not losing weight week. However I am going to carry on doing plenty of exercise and try to eat as healthily as possible when it is not my birthday or meals out etc. My mum's birthday is the day after mine so there will be lots of goodies about but I shall just have to limit the amount I have.
So the rest of this week: tomorrow work and then probs spin, friday doctors appointment and friend over for lunch, Saturday and Sunday work and probs quiet evenings to save my energy.

Sticking to it
Since Monday this week I have lost 2.5lbs yippee! I have managed to stick to healthy eating with only one or two minor slip ups. :-) I'm so pleased. I am going to keep it up. Also I have really been hitting the exercise lately and am intending to keep that up too. I am really enjoying all this exercise although admittedly I feel like I've enjoyed it afterwards rather than during. If I'm enjoying it during I'm probably not working hard enough!
In other news I am going to be a mummy to a baby rabbit :-) I am so looking forward to it. I just have to decide on a name...well and get all the stuff for it.
This post is pretty short as I am very tired after not sleeping so well last night so am just off to bed.

Good times
I have had a miraculous recovery from possibly the worst cold I've had in years :-)woop go immune system.
I had a grumpy moment this morning but am feeling much happier right now. I went to spinning class this evening and thought about what had annoyed me during the speed trackswhich kept me going. I am totally loving spinning classes right now.
I think this week is likely to be a weight loss week as I haven't been snacking as much during the day and despite being ill I have still exercised.
Tomorrow is my day off and I might go to the gym dependant on how much my legs ache.I could feel my bum aching during spin today which is the first time its made that area ache. I am definitely benefitting from the endorphins today. My grumpy moment only lasted about 10 minutes earlier but I felt even more cheered up after spin.
In other news I dyed my hair yesterday, it is plum,in some lights it looks very dark brown and in other lights purple. I totally love it! I wasn't sure earlier but it looks much fresher and now I don't have roots. It's probably the darkest shade I have ever had my hair.
Also on my day off tomorrow I am going to do some baking with my mother. Peanut butter squares which I have never had or made before and something else as well I think although I'm not sure exactly what the 2nd lot of baking will be. I'm looking forward to a chilled out day :-)
I'd better not eat too much of the stuff we make. We can always freeze some and give some out to people we know.
I am working this weekend which I don't mind as I can usually get quite a bit of adminy type things done on the long Saturday shift. I probably won't do much Saturday night and then work again Sunday until 3.30. We have a charity spinathon on on Sunday at work, there are 6 1 hour classes. The last one is at 3.30 and I want to take part so I am going to have to get changed and run in there bang on 3.30.
I haven't really made any plans further than that so far. Just to keep plodding on with trying not to eat too much and to keep up the exercise. I feel that being a healthy weight is in sight now and just around the corner. I don't know how long it will take me to get around that corner but right now I feel it is within grabbing distance and I can do it :-)
Smiles all round :-)

Lazy day
Hello!
Sorry for the lack of posts, I have been pretty busy and also have a hand injury (mainly my thumb) which makes typing or indeed doing pretty much anything painful. Luckily the swelling is starting to go down now and it's less painful and yes before you ask there is almost always something wrong with me!
This week seems to have passed in a blur. Today and tomorrow are my days off. I might be seeing a friend this evening, I will be having a lazy day up until that point and if I am not seeing her then I will just carry on with my lazy day! I am seriously in need of some rest. For some reason I never quite manage to have the relax time I intend to.
My eating has been going quite well I think. However when I injured my thumb and felt faint I did have a cup of tea with 4 sugars! My friend made it to try to stop the faintness, the faintness did go away so it may well have helped :-) I felt so sick that I didn't end up having any dinner that night. So I guess that cancels out the sugar in the tea. lol.
Exercise has been ok, lots of dog walks, I am intending to go to the gym tomorrow morning for a run, or run with the dog on his walk. The problem is that the places like the fields where we can let the dog off his lead are too muddy to wear anything other than wellies and I couldn't run with him on the lead as I don't think it would work out too well!
I am going out for drinks tomorrow night, I can't wait :-) I won't go overboard but it will be nice to go out.
Have a fab weekend x

Doing well
I am feeling so much better and am doing well on the rules I set myself.
I have stuck to the rules so far. I am having 2 chocolate free days at the moment so that I can allow myself some tomorrow as I am going to a friend's for a movie day and want to be able to have some in case there is any.
I went to the gym today and did 55mins on the treadmill. I didn't run for particularly long as I was struggling to keep up the running. I'm still pleased with my efforts though.
Tomorrow as I say I am going to my friend's for a lazy day, I can't wait, will be great to have a good chat, I saw her on Thursday but felt like we had so much left to talk about!
This next week is going to be mad, I am working an extra day this week and then on my one and only day off am very busy with a doctors appt, then helping someone out with some stuff, then helping out with something in the evening. I have a day off Monday 25th, think I'll be exhausted by then!
I will be dogsitting as of next weekend for 3.5 weeks so will be getting a lot of exercise walking him and following my training plan too.
As well as sticking to the rules I have found I have not eaten as much in general the last few days and in fact when I tell myself it is a chocolate free day I don't even find myself wanting it very much. Long may it last!

Stories
I have a number of things to talk about today so I figured I would tell them all in one post. Several 'Stories' kind of.
A bottle of Wine
On Monday I went to work, a colleague mentioned something about my bottle of wine. I was confused, what bottle of wine was she talking about? I then thought well maybe it's a late Christmas present from somebody. I went to go and see and there was a letter there. Addressed to Sophie C c/o leisure centre. Now I'm thinking it must be from a customer or someone else I've had dealings with. I open the letter. Dear Sophie, Ref Employee of the month. I had been awarded employee of the month for my centre :-) that put a smile on my face! The letter went on to explain why I had been awarded it and ended with enjoy your wine, now that's my kind of letter!
A trip to the doctors
I went to see the nurse on Monday as the rash in my mouth had returned, she then sent me in to see the doctor. The doctor was not sure why my throat was so sore but said it was very red etc. She gave me antibiotics for 10 days and has ordered another blood test to test for some different things this time. I have been poorly all week as I have had this major sore throat and a stonking cold/fluey thing on top of it. I was off sick from work on Tuesday as I felt so ill, no energy and a bit dizzy too.
The Snow
I have officially been proved wrong when I said it hardly ever snows. On Tuesday evening it began to snow and snow and snow. We have the most snow I have ever seen in my life at the moment! Its supposed to snow even more tomorrow and Monday! I have been walking to work in it as I would have to dig my car out if I wanted to drive anywhere and the roads are so icy and dangerous.
Marathon Training
I completed week one of my training programme, then I got sick. I haven't been for a run for a week and a day. And I am not going today either. I am just coming out the otherside of this flu/cold and think it would be unwise to go running, however I feel REALLY GUILTY about this. It does worry me that I haven't trained for a week, but I just haven't been in a fit state to do any training. I have walked a couple of places other than to work this week and am finding my leg muscles ache, I think the slippyness of the paths means it takes more effort to stay standing so is probably pretty good for toning. So the walking is better than nothing. I have to say just a short walk to town and back one day this week really took it out of me. I kind of need some reassurance that it's ok not to train when you feel poorly and this one week off training will not affect my ability to finish the marathon? I'm also concerned I won't be able to do as much as the programme says next week, does this matter? Perhaps I should do some research, then again perhaps I should just not worry and do my best next week to do what I can.
A party
It was my friend's 21st birthday party last night, I almost didn't go because I was feeling so poorly, but I did go and had a great time. I think she did too :-)
A day of rest
Today I am having a day of rest, my body needs it, I think I will watch a dvd this afternoon and get an early night tonight. I will make sure I get plenty of rest next week too as well as getting back to training. I have been making sure I eat vegetables this last week to try and help get rid of my illness, however I have not been hitting 5 a day. My aim for the next week is to nourish my body and take good care of it. Although that's easier said than done, especially when there are 2 boxes of chocolates on the table I am sat at right now!
I hope everyone is having a good week :-)

Post Christmas Blues
On my way to the gym today I had a tiny twinge of the post Christmas blues, they soon passed. Once in the gym I realised how much fitness I have lost over the festive period. Yuck! I wasn't super fit in the first place and a combination of little exercise, lots of food and a reasonable amount of alcohol made it a real struggle. My training plan said 5k for today which I managed to do but it took me ages. I felt really flabby too, I could feel my stomach and thighs jiggling when I first started running! Seriously that needs to be prevented from ever happening again. I think once the festive period is over I can get on with my training much more easily.
As I said in a previous post I do have a party to go to on the 8th January but that gives me just over a week off partying after New Years Eve. After that I am hitting the straight and narrow with exercise and eating etc.
My parents are going on holiday for a while soon and I was thinking earlier about what a good opportunity it is for me to eat healthily, I can cook what I want without having to consider other people's likes and dislikes. I imagine I will make some big batches of stuff and freeze them. I always find it hard to think of meals to cook. When I was at uni I used to spend ages trying to plan different healthy meals. Any suggestions welcome. I am really looking forward to getting back into the healthy eating habit.
Back to work in the morning, dare I say that I am quite happy to go back now, I've had a nice break but like to be kept busy. Then I have Friday off as it is New Years Day and we are closed. It would have been my day off anyway as I am working the weekend. I do actually find I sometimes get more admin type work done on weekend shifts as there are usually less interruptions.
Wishing you all a very happy new year, lets hope 2010 will be the best yet

Update
I haven't updated in a little while, I have been rather busy and finding the time to turn my computer on and update just hasn't happened.
Healthy You Challenge Update
The challenge is going ok, I haven't been able to exercise much over the last couple of weeks, I have had a lot of occasions when there has been lots of nice foods etc, I have enjoyed the foods but also made compromises to balance it out. A success I feel.
Dad's 60th Birthday
It was my Dad's 60th Birthday on Sunday so we had a lovely family day at home with a nice lunch and then played games and watched dvds. The majority of us also had a snooze after lunch! He is having a party in a weeks time with wider family and friends, I am looking forward to it even though I haven't got anything to wear yet!
Snow
So you know how I said we never get snow? Well we had some last week that settled and then melted and we have it again now. It started snowing yesterday afternoon about an hour before I was due to start work. It stopped just after I got home from work. It settled. I was starting work late afternoon yesterday so while most people were travelling home in it I was going to work which inevitably meant I would have to go home in the poor conditions late at night. I have never driven in snow before, whenever we have had snow before I have been able to walk or cycle. My Dad offered to drive me to work but I felt I would have to bite the bullet and drive myself, I figured at some point in my life I would have to drive in snow. It was fine, everyone was driving slowly and carefully. On the way back the conditions were worse but I made it home without skidding or anything. At one point I was coming up to a junction to turn left and tried to follow the curve as you're supposed to but car decided to go straight, think it probably couldn't grip the road properly. All was fine in the end. In our country everyone makes a big fuss when it snows and places close down etc etc, people always comment how in such and such a country they have loads of snow and no problems. I think the reason we have so many problems is because it is so rare to have snow over here so people aren't used to it.
Giving Blood
I gave blood last Monday, my iron levels were fine :-) the next session I am going to is 26th April, the day after the London Marathon!!! Not sure whether that is a good idea or not. Over here you are advised to wait 16 weeks between donations as it takes 12-16 weeks for your iron levels to return to normal levels after a donation. 16 weeks would be before the marathon but the next session in my town after 16 weeks is the 26th April. We shall see, I may not be able to walk that day!
Other
I still need to finish my Christmas shopping, I need to go into town later on before work to get some prizes for a Christmas raffle we have organised for our customers at work. I also need to get some bits as my friend is coming over for lunch tomorrow and hopefully finish my present buying at the same time I'm in town. This is cutting it a bit fine, I realise I vowed to get my shopping done early this year due to working full time. That didn't happen!
Have a very Merry Christmas all and a happy new year :-)

Brrr
It's my day off and I'm sat at home getting a few bits done online. I'm pretty chilly.
I've made an appointment to give blood on Monday, hopefully this time my haemoglobin levels will be high enough to donate. I finished my iron tablets last Monday so I think it's unlikely my levels will be low. I'm going to have to rush straight to work after I've donated as they are only doing an afternoon session this time and the earliest appointment left was 55mins before I was due to start work. They usually say to allow an hour to go through the whole process but I have found it to take only 30mins in the past and I know they have now changed the process slightly to make it quicker. Some Mondays I start at 4 and some at 3.30, unfortunately next Monday is a 3.30 day so I have asked that I can come in at 4 and make up the half an hour this week. So this way I have an hour and 25mins after my appointment starts to get done and get to work. I imagine I won't need all that time but it's better than constantly looking at my watch thinking I've got to be at work for 3.30.
Tomorrow I am working the early and then am going straight to the gym. I will also be walking to work as my car is away getting fixed this week.
This afternoon I am going to a garden centre near where I live that also has lots of Christmassy things this time of year, then tonight one of my friends who I haven't seen for a while is coming over. I am trying to make the most of working earlies/days off this week. I have today off as time in lieu due to working extra last week. I got to choose which day I had off so went for today as it was a late shift.
The weather here is a bit dreary, think it's predicted to be a rainy Christmas. I always hope for snow over Christmas, I LOVE snow! I find it so magical and it hardly ever snows and settles here so snow is a bit of an event. I think it only ever snows and settles about once a year. I remember it once snowing on Christmas day but it was only a light flutter that did not settle. As the song goes 'I'm dreaming of a white Christmas' Yes please. Although icy conditions aren't great when you're training for a marathon. It can snow on a day when I've just been for a running and am having a rest day the next and then melt away overnight after the rest day so it's clear for me the next training day. Great, now I just need it to actually happen like that.
I'm off to have some lunch now, will try and have some red meat and have plenty the rest of the week so I can build up my iron stores ready for Monday. I'll be so cross if my haemoglobin levels are still low although I think that's very unlikely. After Monday my next session to give blood will be rather close to the marathon, it takes 12-16 weeks for your iron levels to recover after giving blood so I may well wait until after the marathon to donate again.
Have a good week all.

A balanced diet
A balanced diet... a cup of green tea in one hand and a doughnut in the other? I wish! Wouldn't it be great if one good food choice cancelled out one not so good?
I had a good gym session this morning and was pretty healthy with my eating yesterday so I'm not going to feel guilty about my doughnut which for the record was disappointing.
The weather has gotten pretty cold the last couple of days, I'm just about to start some work on my computer and am seriously considering getting my hot water bottle.
Tomorrow I am meeting a friend who is back for this weekend for lunch, I'm not sure what I'll have but I'm not going to worry overly as I don't eat out very often.
Then this week I will be busy with working and exercising and don't really have any other plans so far.
Christmas is just around the corner, it seems to have crept up on me and I am not very organised yet!

I will be doing a lot of exercise soon!
So I applied for a ballot place in the London Marathon 2010. It's pretty hard to get into the London Marathon and many people apply for a ballot place year after year without getting in, I applied this year after having wanted to do so for ages. First attempt and I got in! Woo! I am so excited! It is also slightly like OMG 26miles 385yards is a long way.
I did a half marathon this year and it was HARD, I trained but didn't give the training my all and didn't do as many miles as the training plan required. However I finished and my time wasn't too awful. The experience of that means I know now how important training is and also that someway somehow I will get through it however hard it is. The feeling when I cross that finish line is going to be amazing.
I think the whole day is going to be very emotional.
Since the half marathon I have done very little running, I will basically be starting from scratch with my training. The magasine I received with my accepted letter contains 3 training plans designed based on your ability and the aims you have for the race (eg just to finish etc) You need to have a certain level of fitness for these. The plans last 13 weeks and one month before I should receive further info on the last months worth of training, so that is 17 weeks worth. At the moment there are 30weeks until race day, so I think my aim for the time being will be to get up to the fitness levels stated to start the programme and then reassess in a few weeks as to what I should do next.
I am very much looking forward to this challenge. I would like to raise money for a charity in doing this, I have yet to choose which and will be spending some time over the next however long trying to choose one.
I will also be getting a lot of exercise soon because my car has failed its MOT and there is also another problem with it which is very expensive to fix. At the moment I am awaiting some information as to whether I can get it fixed cheaper and if it is worth getting it fixed.
I haven't weighed in this week due to being ill, I may weigh in later on in the week but I am quite busy this week.
Hope everyones week is going well, there is going to be a lot more exercise related stuff on here now!

Welcome
So today I was welcomed officially to the healthy you challenge, I have had a couple of comments welcoming me already so that's great. I already feel encouraged and supported, thanks guys :-)
I haven't weighed myself today as I was in a rush this morning and I like to weigh first thing, I think that I won't have seen much of a difference in weight yet due to my poor eating over the weekend, so I'll weigh in later in the week or I'll wait until next week perhaps.
I have greatly reduced the amount I eat, yesterday evening I had a mars bar after work and it was so delicious! I feel that I can get away with that as previously I would be eating large quantities of chocolate several times a day as well as crisps, puddings you name it. I found I really enjoyed the mars bar whereas usually I just gobble chocolate down without really thinking about it.
At the moment I am doing some work for someone as well as my normal job, this leads to me being busy and so not thinking about food so much.
As a snapshot here is what I have eaten today
Breakfast- 2 boiled eggs with 2 slices wholemeal granary toast and light margarine-I figured this would fill me up longer than my usual cereal so that I didn't get a massive hunger pang at 10am.
Mid morning-half a seeds and fruit bar
Lunch-peanut butter sandwich on wholemeal granary bread, apple
Dinner-2 small baked potatoes, tuna, green beans and cauliflower
I had to force myself to have the vegetables for dinner, I really didn't want them but the thought of writing my blog post made me eat them. Ever since dinner I have still been feeling hungry, I have decided that I will have a snack later of either a small piece of cheese or some milk as I haven't really had much calcium today.
In terms of exercise I haven't done much lately, I am trying to include more lifestyle exercise. Today I cycled to where I needed to be, I think it took about 20mins each way, I could certainly feel it in my bum muscles, hopefully that means it was doing them some good.
So aims for this week:
Try to eat more fruit and vegetables as although I am eating less rubbish I am still not eating enough fruit and veg.
Get moving more-I am dogsitting as of next Saturday for a week as my parents who I live with are away. So that means I will be going for lots of walks which=good for weight loss and feeling positive. It also means I can choose what dinners I have rather than the 3 of us trying to reach a compromise and trying to have something we all like. I think I will try and make some really nourishing foods to give me a good boost.
This next week is going to be really busy with work and I also have a couple of other things on the to do list in my head, but with careful planning it will hopefully be a healthful week.
Good luck to everyone else taking part in the healthy you challenge x
